Super Rugby tipping

Seventeen rounds, three countries, and the flight across the Tasman is half the form guide.

A Super Rugby tipping comp built for a competition that crosses the ditch every weekend. Fixtures land on your tippers' clock, results score themselves, and the ladder runs under your logo and your colours.

Free to start. No credit card.

The 2027 Super Rugby Pacific season, at a glance.

Teams
Ten, following Moana Pasifika's exit from the competition. New Zealand, Australian and Fijian sides in a single table.
Regular season
Seventeen rounds, the longest regular season Super Rugby Pacific has run, with one bye per team.
Season window
Kicks off 12 February 2027 and ends with the Grand Final on Saturday 26 June, wrapped up well before the NRL reaches its business end.
Finals
A new three-week, single-elimination series. Week one is sudden death: 3rd v 6th and 4th v 5th. Week two, the top two host the survivors in semi-finals. Week three, the Grand Final.
Top two matters more than it used to
Finishing first or second buys a week off and a home semi-final. There is no second chance anywhere in the bracket, so the regular season carries real weight all the way to round seventeen.
Bonus points
The competition ladder awards bonus points for scoring four tries and for losing narrowly. A tipping comp can mirror them or ignore them, and that choice changes the whole feel of your scoring.
Time zones
Home games kick off on your own clock. Eastern Australia runs behind New Zealand, Fiji sits between, and a Perth fixture sits behind all of them. A single round can span five hours of clock.

What a Super Rugby round looks like.

  1. Fixtures arrive converted to your tippers' clock.

A Friday night in Dunedin is a different hour to a Saturday night in Perth. Kick-off times, lock countdowns and reminders all show in your tippers' time zone rather than the venue's, so nobody misses the late game across the Tasman because they were reading the venue's local time.

  2. Tips lock at each kick-off across a two-day round.

Most rounds run Friday and Saturday with five matches between them. Fixtures close one at a time, so the early Friday game shuts while the Saturday fixtures are still open. Reminders go out 24 hours before the first lock and again 75 minutes before.

  3. Results score as each match finishes.

The leaderboard moves on the final whistle, overall and by group. On a two-day round the standings are settled by Saturday night, so Sunday is for arguing about them. Super Rugby fixtures, kick-off times and results all come off the live data feed, so the round closes itself.

The arguments every Super Rugby tipping organiser has.

Rugby union gives you two things most codes do not: a ladder that already runs on a bonus point system, and a fixture list where the travel is genuinely part of the result.

Trans-Tasman travel is the form guide.

An Australian side playing in Hamilton the week after a home game is not the same team it was seven days earlier, and a New Zealand side arriving in Perth has just crossed the Tasman and most of a continent. In a competition this stretched, the travel schedule predicts upsets better than the ladder does. Tippers who work that out early win, which is exactly the kind of edge that keeps a comp interesting.

Decide whether your comp mirrors the bonus point system.

Super Rugby awards a ladder point for scoring four tries and another for losing by seven or fewer. Most tipping comps ignore both and score winners only. Mirroring them lets a losing tip still return something and makes a blowout worth more than a grind. It is more work to explain and considerably more interesting to play.

Margins run wider in rugby union than almost anywhere.

Scorelines run from a one-point drop goal to a fifty-point rout, which makes margin prediction genuinely decisive rather than a tidy tiebreaker. Set the margin fixture on a match you expect to be close, or it stops separating anyone.

The new finals format is three weeks and no second chances.

From 2027, week one of the finals is straight sudden death for 3rd through 6th, and the top two go directly to semi-finals. There is no qualifying final and no back door. If your comp carries into the finals, that's three rounds rather than four, and every match is elimination, which makes it a much better bracket than a tipping extension.

A February start is your tippers' first comp of the year.

Super Rugby kicks off just before the NRL. For a club, workplace or bar it's the round that re-establishes the habit after summer. Keep the scoring simple for round one and add the bonus-point complexity later if your field wants it.

Formats that suit a trans-Tasman season.

Season-long head to head

A winner in every match across all seventeen rounds. Ten teams and a single table means everyone plays everyone, so the fixture list stays familiar from February to June.

Margin tipping

Rugby union's wide scoring range makes margin a real comp rather than a tiebreaker. The format that best rewards people who watch the games instead of reading the ladder.

Bonus-point scoring

Mirror the competition's own four-try and losing bonus points in your scoring. More to explain, and the version a rugby-mad room will actually argue about.

Finals bracket

Three weeks, single elimination, top two straight into semi-finals. A compact bracket that resolves in June.

Why run your Super Rugby tipping on Fanzava.

Three countries, one clock.

Fixtures show in your tippers' time zone, wherever the match is being played. A competition that spans the Tasman and the Pacific is a time zone problem before it is anything else, and it's already handled.

Your logo, your colours, your domain.

White label on every paid plan. Pro and above add a custom domain and a custom email sender, so the comp reads as yours from the invite through to the Grand Final recap.

Scoring as simple or as rugby as you like.

Flat points per correct tip out of the box. Joker multipliers, margin prediction and perfect round bonuses if you want them. The bonus-point conversation is a configuration decision rather than a rebuild.

A February to June season that opens the year.

Super Rugby starts before the NRL has found its feet and finishes before league reaches September. For a club or bar it is the first comp of the year and the easiest habit to restart.

Questions Super Rugby organisers ask.

Should our scoring include bonus points?
It depends how rugby-literate your field is. Winners-only scoring is easier to explain and works for a mixed room. Mirroring the competition's four-try and losing bonus points makes losing tips worth something and rewards people who predict the shape of a match rather than just the result. Start simple in round one; you can add complexity in a later season without rebuilding anything.
How do you handle Australian and Fijian kick-off times?
Everything shows in your tippers' time zone. Eastern Australian fixtures run behind New Zealand and a Perth fixture runs further behind again, so a single round can span five hours of clock. Locks are per fixture and reminders go out 24 hours before the first lock of the round, converted for the people receiving them.
Does the new 2027 finals format change how we run June?
Yes, and it makes a bracket the better option. The finals are three weeks of single elimination, with the top two going straight to semi-finals and nobody getting a second chance. There is no qualifying-final safety net to tip around, so a bracket filled out at the end of the regular season captures it more cleanly than extending the tipping comp.
Can we run Super Rugby alongside the NRL?
Yes, as separate competitions on one hub with one tipper list. Super Rugby runs February to June, which overlaps the first half of the NRL season. The Starter plan runs three competitions at once, which is enough for rugby, league and a finals bracket.
What does it cost?
Free for up to 25 tippers with no credit card. Paid plans are billed in Australian dollars, and the pricing page lists what each plan costs and how many tippers it covers. Clubs generally upgrade for the branding rather than the tipper cap.
