How it works.

  1. Choose where to start.

Real results count up to the round you pick. Every game after it is yours to predict. Once a season is finished, replay it from any round.

  2. Tap a winner for each game.

Tap a club, or the draw. Add a winning margin if you want to move points difference. Leave it blank and the season’s typical margin is used.

  3. Play the finals and share it.

The top eight on your ladder set the finals bracket. Pick a premier, then copy the link or save an image.

How the NRL ladder is decided.

Two points for a win, and for a bye.

A draw is worth one and a loss nothing. A bye is worth two, so every club gets the same number of chances at points. The tool adds a bye once its round is complete.

Points difference breaks ties.

Clubs level on points are ordered by points difference, points for minus points against, then by percentage. If clubs are still level the NRL has further tie-breakers that this tool cannot forecast, so it marks those clubs as tied.

Eight clubs play finals.

Week one is first v fourth, second v third, fifth v eighth and sixth v seventh. The top four get a second chance. Semi finals, preliminary finals and the grand final follow.

Ladder predictor questions.

How does the NRL ladder predictor work?
It starts from the real results, adds your pick for every game still to be played and recalculates the ladder as you go. It uses the NRL’s rules: two points for a win, one for a draw, two for a bye, and points difference to separate clubs on equal points.
Do byes count on the NRL ladder?
Yes. A bye is worth two points, the same as a win. The predictor adds them for you, once every game in that round has a result or a pick.
How many teams make the NRL finals?
Eight. The top four play qualifying finals and get a second chance if they lose. Fifth to eighth play elimination finals, where a loss ends the season.
Do I have to enter a margin?
No. A margin only changes points difference. Leave it blank and the tool uses the typical winning margin so far this season, shown in the box. Type your own to see how a big win moves a club up the ladder.
Can I use it after the season has finished?
Yes. Replay the season from any round and predict the rest. It is a good way to see how the ladder could have gone a different way.
Is my prediction saved or sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. The share link holds your picks in the web address, so it only exists if you copy it.
