Premier League pools

Thirty-eight matchweeks, most of them over Saturday morning coffee.

A Premier League pool that survives a season shaped around European soccer, a crowded Christmas and kickoffs that land at 7:30am in Toronto and 4:30am in Vancouver. Fixtures, locks and scoring under your branding, on each player's own clock.

The 2026-27 Premier League, at a glance.

Clubs and matches
20 clubs, 38 matchweeks, 380 matches. Every club plays every other club home and away.
Opening round
Friday, August 21, 2026. A week later than usual, giving clubs 33 clear days after the FIFA World Cup 26 final.
Season shape
33 weekends and five midweek match rounds. The weekend rhythm breaks five separate times across the season.
Festive period
No two match rounds within 60 hours over Christmas and New Year, so the traditional pile-up is spaced but still tight.
Final day
Sunday, May 30, 2027. All ten matches kick off at once, so the last matchweek is a single lock rather than a spread.
The draw
A live third outcome in every match. Unlike hockey, basketball or football, a level score is a normal result rather than something overtime settles.
Canadian kickoff times
The early Saturday match starts at 7:30am Eastern and 4:30am Pacific. The traditional 3pm UK slot is 10am in Toronto and 7am in Vancouver.
Two different clock changes
Britain and Canada change their clocks on different Sundays, so for one week in the fall and two in the spring every kickoff lands an hour earlier than usual on a Canadian clock.

What a matchweek looks like from Canada.

  1. Fixtures arrive already converted.

Every match in the matchweek appears in your hub from the live data feed with kickoff times and lock countdowns in each player's own time zone, not the stadium's. Nobody in Calgary is working out what 12:30 in London means on a Friday night.

  2. Picks lock at each kickoff, across three or four days.

A Premier League matchweek runs Friday to Monday in the UK, and most of it lands before lunch in Canada. Matches close individually, so the Monday match stays open long after the Saturday ones are done. Reminders go out 24 hours before the first lock and again 75 minutes before.

  3. Results score before the afternoon starts.

Most matches finish by Saturday lunchtime in the east and mid-morning in the west. Scores post as each one ends, the standings move, and the recap is waiting before your players have finished their weekend errands.

The arguments every Premier League pool organizer has.

Soccer breaks the two-outcome assumption every North American league is built on, and the Premier League calendar breaks the one-round-a-weekend assumption five times a season.

The draw is a third outcome, and it changes all the math.

Two-way picks, where a draw counts as a loss for everyone, reward backing favourites and make half the schedule uninteresting. Three-way picks, home, draw or away, make the draw a real call and reward people who actually watch. Most organizers coming from an NHL or NFL pool start two-way and switch by Christmas. Decide up front whether a correct draw is worth more than a correct favourite, because it probably should be.

Five midweek rounds compress your deadlines without warning.

The 2026-27 season carries 33 weekends and five midweek match rounds. Five times a season, a round opens on a Tuesday and closes on a Thursday, with kickoffs at 2:30pm or 3pm Eastern in the middle of the workday. Your players' habit is built around a Saturday morning, so those five rounds are where participation drops hardest. Push an extra reminder into every one of them.

Postponements are normal, and they need a rule.

Cup runs, European commitments and weather move matches out of their matchweek all season. Decide now whether a postponed match is voided for that round, carried into the round it is eventually played in, or scored retrospectively when it happens. The third option is the fairest and the most confusing, so if you choose it, say so clearly in matchweek one.

Goal difference is too small to be a weekly scoring mechanic.

Most Premier League matches are decided by one or two goals, so a margin prediction has a usable range of about zero to four. That makes it a decent season tiebreaker on cumulative accuracy and a poor way to score a round. Use margin the way it is designed: on one designated match per round, settling the season rather than deciding it week to week.

A 4:30am kickoff needs a reminder the night before.

The early Saturday match starts before anyone in British Columbia is awake. If someone means to pick on Saturday morning Pacific time, part of the round is already gone. Per-match locks plus a reminder 24 hours out are what stop a pool that runs on British time from quietly losing its western players in September.

Formats that suit a 38 matchweek season.

Three-way picks

Home, draw or away in every match. The format that fits soccer rather than the one imported from hockey or football, and the one that keeps the mid-table matches worth thinking about.

Two-way picks

Pick a winner, a draw pays nobody. Simpler to explain to an office that already runs an NHL pool, at the cost of making a third of the season a formality.

Confidence

Rank the ten matches of a matchweek from most to least certain. Draws make the ranking genuinely hard, which is the point.

Cup and knockout brackets

The domestic cups and the European competitions are knockout tournaments sitting alongside the league. Run them as brackets on the same hub and fill the weeks the league is idle.

Why run your Premier League pool on Fanzava.

Your logo, your colours, your domain.

White label on every paid plan. Pro and above add a custom domain and a custom email sender, so a pool that kicks off before breakfast arrives from your brand rather than from a platform nobody recognizes.

Built for a league played five to eight hours ahead.

Kickoff times, lock countdowns and reminders all show in each player's own time zone, including the weeks the clocks disagree. The early-morning problem is a display problem, and it is already solved.

A season that runs from August to the end of May.

Nine months of weekly contact, running alongside the whole NHL season and past the end of the NFL. Few competitions keep an office engaged for that long.

Groups, rivalries and somewhere to put the arguing.

Supporters' club groups, office groups, branch groups, each with their own leaderboard running alongside the overall one. The Banter Board keeps Monday morning off your inbox.

Questions Premier League pool organizers ask.

How should draws be scored?
Either as a third outcome to pick or as a result that pays nobody. Three-way picks fit soccer better: roughly a quarter of Premier League matches finish level, so a two-way pool effectively discards a large chunk of the schedule. If your office is used to hockey and football pools, two-way is easier to introduce, but expect the question by Christmas.
What happens when a match is postponed?
You choose the rule before matchweek one: void the match for that round, carry it into the round it is eventually played, or score it retrospectively when it happens. Postponements are routine in a season built around European matches and domestic cups, so this is a rule you will use, not a hypothetical.
Do the kickoff times show in Canadian time?
Yes, in each player's own time zone. A Saturday 3pm match in England shows as a 10am lock in Toronto and a 7am lock in Vancouver, and the reminder 24 hours before goes out at a sensible hour on Friday, wherever the player is.
Can we run the Premier League alongside an NHL pool?
Yes. The Premier League runs August to May, which covers the whole NHL regular season and most of the NFL. Run them as separate competitions on one hub with one player list. Paid plans run several competitions at once, and the pricing page shows how many each plan allows.
What does it cost?
Free for up to 25 players with no credit card. Paid plans are billed in Australian dollars, and the pricing page lists each plan's price and player cap. Over a 38 matchweek season, branding and your own domain are the usual reason to move up rather than player numbers.
