Wimbledon bracket: how to run one for 2027

How a Wimbledon bracket works: the 128-player draw, how to fill one in, the rules to settle and the 2027 dates. Run your own challenge with your logo.

A Wimbledon bracket is a copy of the 128-player singles draw that everyone in your group fills in before play starts, picking a winner for every match from the first round to the final. Each correct pick scores one point times the round number, plus 10 for the champion, and a leaderboard ranks the group. The Championships run from Monday 28 June to Sunday 11 July 2027.

How does a Wimbledon bracket work?

Wimbledon is already a bracket. Each singles draw has 128 players, 127 matches and seven rounds, and the winner of every match goes forward until one player is left. You are not inventing a format, you are asking your group to forecast one that already exists.

Some facts about the draw your bracket is built on:

  • Two singles draws. Gentlemen’s and Ladies’ singles, 128 players each. Each is its own bracket.
  • 32 seeds in each draw, placed so that no two seeds can meet before the third round.
  • 16 qualifier places in each draw. Those go to players who come through qualifying the week before, so until it finishes those slots on the published draw read Qualifier.
  • Match length. Best of five sets for the men and best of three for the women.

The official draw, order of play and results all live on wimbledon.com. Your challenge sits around the tournament, not inside it.

When is Wimbledon 2027, and when is the draw?

Wimbledon says The Championships take place from 28 June to 11 July 2027, which is its 150th anniversary year. You can read that on its public ballot page.

The date the 2027 draw is made is not published on wimbledon.com at the time of writing, so we have not put one here. What matters for your bracket is the order of events: qualifying finishes the week before play, the sixteen Qualifier places in each draw are then filled, and only then does a bracket have a name in every slot. Check the official site for the draw date nearer the time, and set your lock for before the first ball on Monday 28 June.

How do you fill in a Wimbledon bracket?

Work from the first round to the final. For each match, pick the player you think goes through, and your picks feed forward, so the player you send into round two is the one you are backing in round three.

Some habits that help:

  • Start with the seeds. Seeds are kept apart so the early rounds are mostly favourites winning, which means most brackets look alike.
  • Find your second-round upset. The second round is where brackets split, because most people agree on round one and then disagree about who goes out next.
  • Pick the champion last. Your final is a consequence of every pick that fed it, so decide it once the rest of the draw is down.

If you want a blank copy for the office wall first, the free bracket maker prints a clean bracket for any field from 2 to 128 names. Paste the 128 players in the order of the draw, choose as entered, and print.

How does a Wimbledon bracket score on Fanzava?

Fanzava scores one point times the round number for each correct pick, plus 10 for the right champion. A correct first-round pick is worth 1 and a correct final pick is worth 7. The weighting is the same for every Fanzava bracket, there is no upset bonus, and it is not set per competition.

Flat scoring would make round one the whole contest, because 64 of the 127 picks sit in it. Weighting by round puts the weight on the later rounds. A perfect bracket scores 257.

Which rules should you settle before the first match?

  • Retirements and walkovers. A player retires at two sets down, or withdraws before a match. The player who goes through is the winner of that match, and every pick on them scores.
  • Men’s, women’s or both. Run them as two brackets with separate leaderboards, or pick one. They are separate competitions, so check your plan allows two at once.
  • How many brackets each. One per person is the default. You can allow up to five, and a person’s best bracket is the one that counts. Agree the limit up front so everyone starts with the same number.
  • The lock time. Set it before play starts on Monday 28 June. Nobody sees anyone else’s picks until then, and a reminder goes out before lock.

How do you run it on Fanzava?

Fanzava runs your own Wimbledon bracket challenge on your logo and colours. Our team builds the bracket from the published draw and records every result as the match finishes, so you type in no fixtures and enter no scores. The leaderboard updates itself, and groups let an office floor or a club committee run a league inside the challenge.

Brackets are not on the Free plan. Run one on Starter or above, or buy a one-off Bracket Pass for the fortnight. Paid plans and a Bracket Pass include full white label, and Pro and above add a custom domain and a custom email sender.

A fortnight is a complete product. The bracket opens, runs and closes inside two weeks, which suits a club, a sponsor activation or a single office better than a season does.

Where do you go next?

See the full Wimbledon bracket challenge page for the detail, or read how tennis bracket competitions and the bracket format work. If a group wants a draw rather than a forecast, our guide to running a sweepstake covers that, and the free bracket maker will print the draw to pin up while you wait for the bracket to open.

Frequently asked questions

How many players are in a Wimbledon singles draw?

There are 128 players in each singles draw, the Gentlemen's and the Ladies'. That makes 127 matches over seven rounds, from the first round to the final. Each draw is its own bracket.

When does a Wimbledon bracket open?

When the draw is complete. Sixteen places in each draw go to qualifiers, and until qualifying finishes those slots read Qualifier. Ask for the bracket once every slot has a name, and lock it before play starts on Monday 28 June 2027.

Who enters the results in a Fanzava bracket?

Our team builds the bracket from the published draw and records each result as the match finishes. You do not enter a score, and every bracket is rescored automatically.

What is the highest score in a Wimbledon bracket?

A perfect 128 player bracket scores 257. That is 247 for the 127 correct picks, worked out as one point times the round number for each, plus 10 for the correct champion.

How is a retirement or a walkover scored?

As a normal result. The player who goes through to the next round is the winner of that match, and every pick that named them scores. Put that in your rules before the first Monday.

Does money change hands in a Wimbledon bracket challenge?

No. It is a free social game where people make predictions and a leaderboard ranks them. Whatever your group does beyond that is between you and your members, and the rules where you live apply.
