FA Cup bracket challenge

There is no FA Cup bracket to fill in early, because every round is drawn separately.

You can still run a branded FA Cup challenge. Predict every tie round by round from the third round, or run a four-team bracket once the semi-final draw is made. Either way it carries your logo, your colours and your leaderboard.

The cup your challenge is built around.

When the big clubs enter
Premier League and Championship clubs join at the third round proper, on Saturday 9 January 2027. That round is 64 teams and 32 ties.
The rounds after it
Fourth round on 13 February, fifth round on 6 March, quarter-finals on 3 April, semi-finals on 24 April and the final on Saturday 22 May 2027.
Ties from the third round
63 in all: 32, then 16, eight, four, two and the final.
Replays
None from the first round proper in 2026/27, so every tie is settled in one match.
How it is drawn
One draw per round, made by The FA after the previous round is nearly done. No route to the final exists beforehand, and the semi-final draw follows the last quarter-final.
The EFL Cup
The Carabao Cup works the same way: a random draw each round, single ties until the two-legged semi-finals, then a one-off final at Wembley in March 2027.

Two honest ways to run an FA Cup challenge.

  1. Predict it round by round from the third round.

Set up a prediction league and add each round's ties as they are drawn, by hand or by CSV. Your players predict each tie before its lock time, and you confirm each result when the match ends. Jokers, margin prediction and the perfect round bonus all work on a custom sport competition.

  2. Or run a four-team bracket once the semi-finals are drawn.

When the semi-final draw is made, four teams and three matches remain, and that is a real bracket. Our team builds it from the draw, your players pick both semi-finals and the final, and we record each result as it is decided.

  3. Or run both side by side.

A prediction league and a bracket are separate competitions with their own leaderboards. The people who followed every round get a last, simple challenge for semi-final weekend.

  4. Your branding on every screen.

Players join by invite link, or you can invite people in bulk from a CSV. The hub carries your logo and colours, and bracket pools let a department or a pub table compete inside your challenge.

What the FA Cup changes about running a challenge.

Most advice for an FA Cup bracket assumes a tree exists on day one. It does not, and the draw format decides what you can run.

A draw each round means no early bracket.

Compare the Champions League, where the round of 16 draw fixes every tie through to the final. The FA Cup redraws from the third round to the semi-finals, so a bracket before the last four would be invented by you, not by the tournament. We will not build a fictional tree and call it the FA Cup.

No replays means one match per tie.

From the first round proper in 2026/27 there are no replays, so every tie produces a winner in one match. That suits a round-by-round predictor: your players pick a winner, you confirm the result, and the round is scored.

The bracket is short, so the champion carries it.

A four-team bracket is worth one point for each correct semi-final pick and two for the final, with ten more for the correct champion. That weighting is the same for every Fanzava bracket, and there is no upset bonus. Expect the leaderboard to turn on the champion pick.

Giant-killings reward the predictor, not the bracket.

Lower-league clubs beating Premier League sides is the story of the early rounds, and a round-by-round competition rewards the people who back them. A late bracket never sees those ties at all, which is why running both is worth considering.

Decide what counts as a tie before the round.

A match level after 90 minutes goes to extra time and possibly penalties. Tell your players that a pick means the team that goes through, not the team ahead at 90 minutes, before the first tie of the round, not after it.

Why run it yourself.

The cup is the conversation, not the spreadsheet.

Sixty-three ties across four months is a lot to administer by hand. A hub keeps the leaderboard and lock times for you, and sends your players their reminders.

The same hub runs the rest of your season.

Run the FA Cup next to a Premier League predictor, a Champions League bracket or an office Six Nations league. One hub, one set of players, separate leaderboards.

Questions FA Cup challenge organisers ask.

Is there an FA Cup bracket?
Not until the semi-finals. The FA draws each round separately, so the path to the final is not known in advance. Until then the honest format is a round-by-round prediction league, and once the semi-final draw is made you can run a four-team bracket.
When can we start?
A prediction league can open before the third round on 9 January 2027 and add each round's ties as they are drawn. A bracket opens after the semi-final draw, which is made after the last quarter-final on 3 April, with a lock before the semis on 24 April.
Does the Carabao Cup work the same way?
Yes. The EFL Cup, sponsored as the Carabao Cup, is drawn round by round with single ties until the two-legged semi-finals. You can predict each round, or run a four-team bracket once the semi-finals are set. The two legs count as one result, the team that goes through.
Who enters the results?
In a prediction league with hand-added fixtures, you confirm each result. In a bracket, our team builds it from the draw and records each result, so you do not enter anything.
Can we print a bracket?
Yes. The free bracket maker lays out a four-team or larger bracket and prints cleanly, which suits a pub wall or an office kitchen before you run the live version.
What does it cost?
Prediction leagues are on the Free plan. Brackets are not, so a four-team bracket needs Starter or above, or a one-off Bracket Pass. The prices are in the Bracket Pass panel on this page.
Does money change hands?
No. Entry is free and Fanzava never handles entry money. It is a free social game where people make predictions and a leaderboard ranks them.
