The NRLW season, at a glance.

Clubs
12. Six in Greater Sydney, three in Queensland, one in Canberra and one in New Zealand. Twelve clubs means exactly six matches every round.
Home and away
11 rounds, 66 matches, 11 games per club. Every club plays every round, so there is no bye anywhere in the season.
When it runs
Winter into spring. The 2026 season runs from 2 July to 4 October, which places the entire competition inside the second half of the men's NRL season rather than beside it.
Grand Final
Played at Accor Stadium on the same day as the men's NRL Grand Final. Both premierships are decided inside one afternoon, which is the single biggest date on your competition calendar.
Finals
Six of the twelve clubs qualify, across three weeks. Week one is 3rd v 6th and 4th v 5th, week two puts the top two into semi-finals against the week one winners, week three is the Grand Final.
Double-headers
Around 30 NRLW matches are scheduled as the earlier half of a double-header, with the men's game following at the same ground. If you run both codes, two competitions lock roughly two hours apart at the same venue.
Perth Bears
The Perth Bears enter the men's NRL as its 18th club in 2027. No women's side has been confirmed, so the NRLW draw stays at twelve clubs and six matches a round and keeps its tight eastern-seaboard round.
Time zones
Every club sits in the eastern states, Canberra or Auckland. New Zealand is two hours ahead of Sydney, so a Warriors home game locks earlier than anything else in the round.

What a round looks like once it's running.

  1. Six fixtures land, every round, all season.

Every match in the round arrives in your hub with clubs, venues, kick-off times and lock countdowns attached. Twelve clubs across six matches means the round size never changes, from Round 1 through Round 11. Double-headers come through as their own fixtures with their own locks.

  2. Tips come in across a weekend that is not yours alone.

NRLW rounds run alongside the men's draw, often at the same grounds on the same days. Fixtures lock individually at kick-off, so an early Saturday NRLW game closes on its own while the men's match that follows it stays open. Reminders go out 24 hours before the first lock of the round and again 75 minutes before.

  3. The ladder settles as the last siren sounds.

Results score the moment a match ends. Overall standings, group standings and inter-group rivalries update in real time, and the Monday recap goes out with everyone's score and rank. Across eleven rounds there are only eleven of those emails, so each one does real work.

The arguments every NRLW tipping organiser has.

Eleven rounds and six matches a round is the smallest regular season Fanzava runs. Almost every NRLW scoring dispute traces back to the same thing: there is very little room to recover, and very little separating the top of the leaderboard.

Each round is more than nine per cent of the season.

One round in eleven is worth more than double what a round is worth in a men's NRL season. Miss a week and you are not coming back, and people know it, which is why a competition that lets someone join in Round 4 quietly loses them by Round 6. Open registration a fortnight before Round 1, close it at the first lock, and use the finals as your second entry point rather than letting people trickle in.

Six tips a week makes ties normal, not rare.

Sixty-six tips across the whole home and away season is a small number to separate a field on. Under flat points-per-tip the top of the leaderboard clusters hard and finishing level is the expected outcome, not an edge case. Pick the tiebreak before Round 1: margin accuracy on a designated fixture, head-to-head record, or number of perfect rounds. Adjudicating it live on Grand Final day is how organisers lose people.

A double-header means two competitions lock two hours apart.

Around thirty NRLW matches are played as the earlier game of a double-header, with the men's fixture following at the same ground. If you run both codes, a participant sees one venue and one afternoon and assumes one deadline. Lock per fixture, and push a reminder against the NRLW kick-off specifically, or you will spend Monday explaining why a card was half empty.

Half the competition makes finals, and finals are a fifth of the calendar.

Six of twelve clubs qualify, over three weeks against eleven home and away rounds. That leaves fewer dead rubbers late than a top-eight competition, but it also means three finals weeks carry serious weight on a very short base. Decide before Round 1 whether the finals are part of the same competition, weighted or unweighted, or a separate three-week bracket.

The men's season is running underneath yours the whole time.

NRLW sits entirely inside the back half of the men's season and finishes on the same afternoon. Anyone playing both is filling in two cards a week for three months. Run them as two competitions on one hub with separate leaderboards and a single sign-up, so a bad NRLW round does not bury someone's men's season and neither competition has to compete with the other for attention.

Formats that suit an eleven-round season.

Season-long head to head

A winner in every match, six a round, eleven rounds. Short enough to run as a self-contained winter competition, and simple enough that people who follow the men's game but not the women's still play.

Margin tipping

Rugby league scorelines cluster tightly, and with only sixty-six matches to separate a field on, margin is less a novelty than a necessity. Run it on one designated fixture a round and it settles the season without touching weekly points.

Survivor

One club a round, never twice. Twelve clubs against eleven rounds means the supply of teams almost exactly matches the length of the season, so a perfect run uses eleven of your twelve clubs and finishes with one spare. No other competition on this site is that finely balanced.

Finals bracket

Six teams, three weeks, sudden death from week one for four of them. Run the finals as a bracket and give the people who stopped tipping in September a reason to come back for Grand Final day.

Why run your NRLW tipping on Fanzava.

Your logo, your colours, your domain.

White label on every paid plan. Pro and above add a custom domain and a custom email sender, so your competition lives at tipping.yourbrand.com and the Monday recap arrives from your address, not ours.

Per-fixture locks, which double-headers require.

Locks follow kick-off, not the round. The NRLW half of a double-header closes when it kicks off and the men's game that follows stays open until its own kick-off. Nobody is locked out of an evening game because they missed an afternoon one.

Two codes, one hub, one sign-up.

Run NRLW and the men's NRL as separate competitions with separate leaderboards on the same branded hub. Participants sign up once and choose either or both, which is the difference between a second competition and a second chore.

Live the same day you set it up.

Create the hub, pick rugby league, set your scoring, add your brand, send a link or print a QR code. No developers, no setup fee, no IT ticket, and no app for anyone to install.

Questions NRLW organisers ask.

Are there bye rounds to handle?
No. Twelve clubs playing six matches means every club plays every round, so the round is six fixtures from Round 1 to Round 11. The scoring question is not how to weight an uneven round, it is how much a single round out of eleven should be worth, and what happens when two people finish level.
How do we handle double-header weekends?
Lock per fixture and send a reminder against the NRLW kick-off, not the men's one. Around thirty NRLW matches a season are played as the first half of a double-header at the same ground, and the most common cause of a half-completed card is someone assuming the two games share a deadline.
Can we run NRLW and the men's NRL together?
Yes, as two competitions on one hub with separate leaderboards. Participants sign up once and enter either or both. The Free plan covers one competition; Starter at A$39 a month runs three at once, which covers both codes plus a finals bracket.
Should the finals count towards the same leaderboard?
Decide before Round 1 and publish it. Three weeks of finals against eleven home and away rounds is a large share of a short season, so carrying them unweighted can overturn the whole competition on the last afternoon. The two clean options are weighting the finals deliberately, or closing the tipping competition at Round 11 and running the six-team finals as a separate bracket.
What does it cost?
Free for up to 25 participants with no credit card. Starter is A$39 a month for 100, Growth A$65 for 250, Pro A$105 for 500 and Scale A$169 for 1,000. All Australian dollars, including GST. Larger organisations run on an enterprise licence with SSO and dedicated support.
