How it works.

  1. Choose where to start.

Real results count up to the round you pick. Every game after it is yours to predict. Once a season is finished, replay it from any round.

  2. Tap a winner for each game.

Tap a club, or the draw. Add a winning margin if you want to move percentage. Leave it blank and the season’s typical margin is used.

  3. Play the finals and share it.

The top ten on your ladder set the wildcard round and the finals bracket. Pick a premier, then copy the link or save an image.

How the AFL ladder is decided.

Four points for a win.

A draw is worth two and a loss nothing. A bye earns no points, so clubs are compared on the games they have played.

Percentage breaks ties.

Clubs level on points are ordered by percentage: points for divided by points against, times 100. Still level, the AFL looks at the games between those clubs, then draws lots.

Ten clubs play finals.

The top six go straight to week two. Seventh plays tenth and eighth plays ninth in the wildcard round. Fifth then plays the lower-ranked wildcard winner and sixth the higher-ranked.

A prediction is one person’s opinion. A tipping comp settles it, week by week, with your logo, your colours and one leaderboard for your workplace, club or pub.

Ladder predictor questions.

How does the AFL ladder predictor work?
It starts from the real results, adds your pick for every game still to be played and recalculates the ladder as you go. It uses the AFL’s own rules: four points for a win, two for a draw, and percentage to separate clubs on equal points.
How many teams make the AFL finals?
Ten, from 2026. The top six go straight into the first full week of finals. Seventh to tenth play the wildcard round for the last two places in the final eight.
What happens if two clubs finish level?
Points first, then percentage, then the results between the two clubs. If they are still level the AFL draws lots, which no predictor can forecast, so the tool marks those clubs as tied.
Do I have to enter a margin?
No. A margin only changes percentage. Leave it blank and the tool uses the typical winning margin so far this season, shown in the box. Type your own to see how a big win moves a club up the ladder.
Can I use it after the season has finished?
Yes. Replay the season from any round and predict the rest. It is a good way to see how the ladder could have gone a different way.
Is my prediction saved or sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. The share link holds your picks in the web address, so it only exists if you copy it.
